Games Frenzy Exhibition!

Last week we were lucky enough to be included in the Game Anglia room for Barclay’s Game Frenzy event in Canary Wharf, London. If you haven’t been to the event before, it takes place inside the Barclay’s event spaces and offices and “…the aim of the Games Frenzy is to spotlight important industry topics, create opportunities for new and upcoming UK games talent to showcase their games and create a great opportunity to network with others in the industry.”

Game Anglia were able to secure support from the Connected Innovation team to help several game developers from East Anglia to bring their demos to the event by providing exhibition space, travel bursaries and accommodation for the Thursday night so that they could travel back the following day. Another fantastic thing they organised was for screens to be provided for each exhibitor, courtesy of Fragers - this meant we did not have to try and bring them on the train and then the underground to the event - what was a huge help! They had these great ‘screen borders’ printed up for each team to place on the screens and this really made each of our stands pop!

Our trusty batik’d tablecloth decorated our stand, helping us create the right feel wherever we are exhibiting! Sam did an amazing job selling the game and running people through the demo, allowing Robin to chat with other developers and network with those at the event.

Our true secret weapon for the event though…

…was our trusty little fan! The Barclay’s event is very warm every year as the venue is not necessarily an event-only space, so it’s not used to having that many people in it! (We might have used it to bribe people to come and have a play of the demo!)

Our lovely pal and fellow indie developer Beatka came to try out the demo and she gave Robin some sage advice on the importance of balancing what you can do as an indie versus what you should do!

There was a great range of games on show at the event and we felt a great sense of pride getting to showcase along side other developers from our region. Considering so many people still think East Anglia is an only-agricultural digitally-deprived region, it was brilliant to be able to show all the talent this area has to offer!

Our thanks to the Barclays, Game Anglia and Connected Innovation teams!
